Maui Nix opened its first shop in Daytona Beach on April 8, 1989. With hard work, dedication and some great people behind us, we’ve expanded to six shops, supporting the local surf and skate communities throughout the state of Florida. Maui Nix has been family owned and operated since day one and has provided Florida surfers and skaters a place where they can go to find everything they need.

At Maui Nix Surf Shop, we know surf and skate. With a team of knowledgeable employees to help everyone from the newest surfer or skater to the most advanced – we’ve got you covered. Year round we are your go to shop for wetsuits, rash guards, boards, wax, leashes, rental boards and much more. With a large selection of the leading and most innovative surfboards and surf accessories around, we’ve got everything you need to get out on the water.

“Clothes for the Soul” is not just a slogan. George Karamitos, owner and creator of the Maui Nix brand, combined this slogan with a character to represent a beach state of mind. “When you walk into a Maui Nix we want you to feel like you’re walking into a tropical location. Our original location was designed to stimulate the senses – you’ll hear the sound of water, experience the clothing and get away from everyday life,” says Karamitos.

Maui Nix is known for its core surf apparel, beach appeal, knowledgeable and friendly staff, events, surf signings, parties and more. Visitors to our shops include people like Sunny Garcia to Taj Burrow – Mick Fanning, Tom Curren, Corey Hart and more. World class surfers and skaters – Rob Machado and Tony Alva. You can count on Maui Nix to always have something going on!

We are proud to have been consecutively voted BEST “Surf Shop” for at least the last 10 years by The Daytona Beach News Journal and the proud recipients of the Surf Industry Manufacturer’s Association Award for Breakout Retailer of the Year 2012.

Maui Nix is an avid sponsor of local surf contests, charities, and other local affiliations. The shop is involved with various clothing drives and surf camps dedicated to children with autism, local foster care programs, clothing and backpack drives and more. We at Maui Nix know how important it is to give back to the community that has supported us since we opened our doors.

Good times at the Family Days Skate Competition

This was the 3rd Annual Family Days Skate Competition and this year was packed! With a cash prize up for grabs it attracted quite the crowd. We have been Co-opting this event every year with New Smyrna Skatepark and we look forward to next year!

These kids were stoked for our second free surf class!

Today was our second free surf lesson of the summer, sponsored by Roxy. We had an amazing turnout and the stoke level was running high with this eager group of future surfers.

Maui Nix Turns 30

On this day 30 years ago we opened our doors at the Original Location for the very first time. We couldn’t be more grateful for all of our amazing customers and our hardworking staff that makes it all possible.
